Transitioning into RS

Helping YW Transition into Relief Society

If you have an idea that you have used in your ward to help the YW make the move into Relief Society, I would LOVE to hear about it! I will post them as I receive them. I know how hard it is for both the RS President and the YW President to help the girls through this change.

e-mail me your ideas!

In my previous stake in Indiana they shared a great idea to help the YW with transition to RS. It was a gift bag for each incoming YW. They had the usual items for a new sister, a calendar, RS list, Lesson schedule, lesson manual but also there were a few items poking fun at ourselves: pkg of green jello, crochet hook, hairnet, etc. This is given to the YW during a visit by the RS presidency when she turns 18. It is a good way to start a conversation about how RS is for everyone, it's not just old ladies doing old lady things. You can also include a puzzle piece, letting that YW know that she is a valuable part of RS. A way to build on this is to ask the YW about her talents and then give her an oppotunity to share those talents in a lesson, or Enrichment night.
