Truth from Elijah

Materials:

Markers
Cardstock
Scissors
Glue
Yarn
Drinking straws

Preparation:
Cut 8 hearts from cardstock. On four of the hearts, write the words

FATHERS
LEARNED
SEEK
WORTHY

Turn the hearts over, and glue a straw to the center of each heart. Glue the blank hearts to the back of the printed hearts (and straws) to make a "sandwich".

Thread the yarn through the straws and hearts, knotting the yarn at the ends of the straws (see illustration). The hearts should turn freely.

Presentation:
Hang the hearts from the blackboard with the blank side showing. As you come to the words in the song, turn the hearts around. For instance:

"The hearts (turn top heart) of the children have turned to their fathers, Have turned, have turned, have turned (you can turn the heart each time you sing "have turned as an option),
"Because of the truth (turn second heart) they have learned from Elijah, Have learned, have learned, have learned (again, you can turn the heart so the word "learned" shows each time you sing it).
"And we as the children (turn third heart) can seek out our loved ones, preserving their names and their memory.
"(turn last heart)We can strive to be worthy to kneel in the temple And bind them to us for eternity.
"The hearts of the children have turned (turn the top one to the blank side) to their fathers, Have turned (turn second heart), have turned (turn third heart), have turned (turn last heart)."
