Print out as many of the raindrops as you
like. On the back, number them. I laminated mine...
Create a list of songs you want to sing,
and number the songs. When a child picks a raindrop from the umbrella,
they help sing the song that matches the number on the back.
April is a perfect time to use a rainy day singing activity. I attached construction paper raindrops to my umbrella. On each raindrop I had written a song, both those we were focusing on and a few fun ones like Popcorn Popping. One at a time, the children chose drops from my umbrella and we sang—or taught—them together.
Meanwhile, I was collecting the drops and arranging them on my poster board where a beautiful, tall, green paper stem was growing. When we had sung all of our songs, our raindrops had become the petals of a lovely flower. I pointed out that spring is a time of renewal. How fitting that we celebrate the Savior’s resurrection and the gift he has offered us of a new and beautiful life. It’s a simple but fun activity that offers opportunity to testify of Jesus in whatever way feels right.
