Ask the children if they would like to be “Special Helpers”. Choose the most reverent children.
Have a paper bag filled with pictures or actual items they can hold that represent some of the special gifts we have received to help us keep our covenants. The children reach into the bag and pull out an item. Then you talk about how that picture or item represents a “special help” to us. Ask the children to guess what it is, and ask them how these things can help us prepare for baptism and choose the right.
Here is a list of things I thought of… You will probably come up with more to add:
Handout: Coloring page.
Have the children draw a picture of what “special help” Heavenly Father
has given to them to choose the right and prepare for baptism. There
is a line under the picture so you can write in a description for the younger
children.
OBJECT LESSON:
You will need:
Pull out the utensils. They can select one and hold it in one hand to hold the GAK.
Explain that sometimes tools we make help us to do things we couldn’t do on our own.
What are some special tools or “helps” we have received from our Heavenly Father to help us keep our covenants and choose the right?
Handout puzzle,
or show on overhead and work with the children on each answer. The
children will need their Bibles, Books of Mormon and D&C’s.
