The Symbolism of the Rose

The rose, queen of flowers,
Crowned with every royal gift,
Reigns in the gardens of the world--
Fragrant, fresh, and sweet,
Roses in all varieties of color and bloom
Grow together.
Each is lovely, yet who dare say
Which is the most beautiful?
There is symbolism between the rose and me--
We are both creations of our Heavenly Father.
Each has a mission to perform;
Each can bring joy and happiness
Into the lives of others.
The rose protected by thorns against the whims of passersby,
Opens new petals day by day
And raises thirsting leaves
To receive heaven's refreshing dews.
I have the whispering of a still small voice within
To guide and protect me.
Day by day I shall walk in grace and beauty
Until I am grown.
I shall strive to preserve the purity of my heart and soul;
I shall thirst after love, humility, charity, and self-respect;
I will ask my Father in heaven to help me;
I see eternal life.
