Baby
Quilt Activity
For our Good Works activity, the girls
designed and cut out the squares for baby quilts. Each girl was responsible
for their own quilt. The leaders brought scraps, scissors and their
sewing machines to piece them together (oh, and an iron).
Another activity could be to tie the quilts,
but we donated them to the Quilts for Kosovo campaign. The sisters
in our Stake donated batting and backing for the baby quilts, and had them
put together and tied at an all-day quilting bee.
-
Have the girls select 2 - 4 different fabrics
for their quilt.
-
Have them sit down with markers and color
in the squares so the leaders will know where to piece the squares, and
also to let the girls know how many squares of each color to cut.
-
The square is 6" and allows for a 1/2" seam.
