We had a woman in our YW that was called, and did all the ...personal progress stuff. When we entered into YW at age 12, we got a plastic flower pot, and we got to paint it and decorate it how ever we wanted to. Then inside of the pot was a piece of styrofoam cut to fit the the bottom. As we passed off our goals for each value (there are 20-30 for the first year of Beehives), we got a small painted wooden heart on a wooden stick with the color of the value we passed off.
I know this is a little confusing, but its very cute, easy and fun! By the time you get through 2 years of Beehives and two years of Mia Maids, you have a lot of hearts with different colors. They got presented to each girl in YW's.
Then we had bigger hearts painted in white with a wooden stick and a lacy white bow on it. As we passed off our Laurel projects we got this heart. So you got 4 BIG white hearts for your 4 projects.
By the time you are finished in YW, you have a beautiful flower pot with all your hearts.
Normally you go to college, and your mom says "throw it away", but it really gets attatched to the girls and they watched their own flower pot grow with their service over the years of Young Women.
