Keep
the Commandments
CS p. 146
Materials:
Cardboard or posterboard
Masking or duct tape
markers
scissors or exacto knife
contact paper (clear) - optional
To Assemble:
Cut out two cardboard tablets (like commandments)
and tape sides together on the outside to make a hinge. You can decorate
the tablets any way you choose. I would sponge paint onto corrugated
cardboard tablets to make a stone-like look. Cover inside with contact
paper if desired. When complete, your stone tablets will open like
an easel and sit on the table or the piano easily.
Print and color the art below. Cut
out and laminate or glue to heavier paper. Use tape or velcro to
place the art (5 parts per verse - so five on each tablet) onto the tablets.
Game ideas:
"Keep the Commandments" - cut out a small
copy of the stone tablets from heavy cardboard. Spraypaint and decorate
as you see fit. This is like "hot potato". Hand one child the
commandments, and pass it as you sing. The child holding the tablets
when the music stops is keeping the commandments, and can remove one of
the pictures from your visual. You then sing again from the beginning
as the commandments are being passed.
"Sneak Peek" - Hold the tablets in front
of you. As you sing the song, keep the tablets open so the children
can see the pictures. At different times, close the tablets and see
who remembers the words as you continue singing! You can also have
the children hum while the tablets are closed, then see who knows the next
words as they are opened again. And, another option is to have the
pianist stop playing when the tablets close, and then pick a child to tell
you what the next line is. If they get it right, they get to hold
the tablets for the next turn.
Art
To save an image
(they are reduced to fit your screen), simply place your mouse icon over
the picture, click on the right mouse button, and "save as". Then,
you can pull it into your word processor or graphics program like regular
clipart.
The images will
be larger and clearer than they appear on the screen.
