Making
a Missionary
When we worked on "Army
of Helaman", I invited the Elders to join us for a missionary-based singing
time. Their job was to help the children understand what they can do NOW
to be missionaries. This
would work well for a sharing time, too!
So, here's what I did:
I used two pieces of
posterboard. On the first, I drew, colored and cut out a picture of an
Elder. On the other piece of posterboard, I traced the outline of the Elder
and wrote "Making A Missionary" above the outline.
Then, I cut up the
Elder. I made 12 pieces: 2 hands, 2 arms, 4 pieces from the legs, 2 chests,
1 head and 1 tie.
On the back of the
pieces, I wrote the following:
-
What is your favorite
story about Jesus?
-
ELDERS ANSWER: What is
your favorite scripture?
-
Song: Army of Helaman
-
ELDERS ANSWER: Tell a
story about someone being invited to church.
-
Song: I Hope They Call
Me on a Mission
-
How can I be like Jesus
every day?
-
Tell us about a time you
forgave somebody.
-
What is your favorite
part of Family Home Evening?
-
ELDERS ANSWER: Why do
we sometimes leave people out of our games?
-
How do you remember to
choose the right?
-
Song: I am a Child of
God
-
What can I do to be a
good example?
The children would
pick a piece of the puzzle out of a bag and either answer the question,
have the Elders answer the question or help direct the song on the back.
Then they put the pieces in the right place inside the outline.
