How does partaking of the sacrament help me remember my baptismal covenant?
Luke 22:19
And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.

You’ll need the following for this sharing time:

Cut out pictures from magazines of things children think about a lot.  Some examples could be: toys, food, T.V., friends, homework, etc.

Locate pictures of the Savior during his ministry, a picture of the stone tablets (10 commandments), and children performing acts of service. Or, you can use the clipart below.

Print out the thought bubble below (4-8) onto heavy paper, and paste the pictures you have found onto the front and back, making sure to have opposites.  For example, one bubble could have a toy on one side, and a picture of Christ washing the Disciple’s feet on the other…

Begin by telling the children about the things we promise to do when we are baptized.  When we take the sacrament, we renew, or re-promise, to do those things.

One of the promises we make is to always remember Jesus.  This is very important to do when we are taking the sacrament, because the bread and water represent the sacrifice Jesus made for us – his body and his blood. (With the younger children, you might want to omit the body and blood symbolism, or go over the Last Supper when Christ administered the sacrament to the Apostles.)

Take the thought bubbles through the rows of children, and say, “Pretend we are in Sacrament meeting, and we are getting ready to take the sacrament.  What should we be thinking about?”  Hold a bubble over a child’s head and ask, “What is __________ thinking about?”  (The kids are going to begin yelling the answer now… J)

“What should ______________ be thinking about?”  When the children answer, “Jesus”, turn the bubble around and tell the story the picture is of.  You can also tell the children that we can think about the promises we make when we take the sacrament, and how we can do better at keeping those promises in the coming week.
