"GYM"boree
Have a "Cultural" Hall experience
with a combined activity sure to please!
Choose three games to play in the gym
that can be rotated. Every 15 minutes, the players switch games (unless
you have a smaller group, then just play the games consecutively) until
everyone has played everything!
Games:
-
Crab soccer
-
Mass Twister - cut out construction paper
circles in red, yellow, green and blue. Tape them randomly to the
gym floor (be sure to use masking tape, or risk the wrath of your maintenance
crew!). Using a Twister spinner, call out the body parts and the
colors. This way, you can have 20 or more people playing at once!
-
Broom Hockey - Played like real hockey, but
with brooms and a soft ball.
-
Jump Rope - Can you double-dutch? How many
people can you have jumping at one time?
-
Red Rover
-
Duck-Duck-Goose
-
Apple Cart Turnover
-
Balloon Volleyball - Blow a balloon over the
net, being sure not to touch it with your hands! If it lands on the
floor, your opponents get a point. You can use as many puffs as you
need to get it over.
Relays:
-
Balloon Races - Try having people running
from one end of the gym to the other, then sit on a balloon until it pops.
Harder than it sounds - trust me! Once the balloon is popped, they
can return and send over the next teammate.
-
Cotton Ball Blow-Off - Place a dab of vaseline
on the contestant's noses, and then put a cotton ball on the greasy spot.
The object is to blow the cotton ball off with your mouth, and FAST!
-
The KNEES have it - place a penny between
the contestant's knees. They have to hold it there while walking
(or waddling) to a bucket across the room. Have them drop the penny
in the bucket (by opening their knees) and run back to tag the next person
in line.
