The Prophet Said to Plant a Garden

This was inspired by the idea on page 253 of the green "A Children's Songbook Companion" book by Pat Graham.

  1. 1.  Copy the leafy graphic several times across the page so it looks like a row of leaves above vegetables in the ground. (This graphic can take a long time to print.)
  2. 2. Print everything on white cardstock, cut out each item, and laminate each item separately.
  3. 3.  Glue the leaves at the bottom to a poster-wide strip of dark brown paper scallop-cut along the top edge to look like tilled soil beyond the leaves. Laminate this piece (soil and leaves).
  4. 4.  Glue the left, right, and bottom edges of the laminated soil and leaves piece to white poster board.
  5. 5.  Glue the title to the top of the poster.
  6. 6.  Tie clear fishing line to the other pieces using knots to keep them from slipping along the line (this may take a bit of experimenting).
  7. 7.  Poke small holes in the poster above and behind the leaves so that the Cloud, seed, and vegetables can be moved up and down and can be hidden behind the leaves/soil.

To save a handout (they are reduced to fit your screen), simply place your mouse icon over the picture, click on the right mouse button, and "save as".  Then, you can pull it into your word processor or graphics program like regular clipart.
The images will be larger and clearer than they appear on the screen.
