If Jesus came today, would you have to change
clothes before you let Him in?
Or hide some magazines, and put the Bible
where they had been?
Would you hide your worldly music and put
some hymn books out?
Could you let Jesus walk right in, or would
you rush about?
And I wonder... if the Savior spent a day
or two with you,
Would you go right on doing, the things
you always do?
Would you go right on saying the things
you always say?
Or would life for you continue as it does
from day to day?
Would you take Jesus with you everywhere
you go?
Or would you maybe change your plans for
just a day or so?
Would you be glad to have Him meet your
closest friends?
Or would you hope they stay away until His
visit ends?
Would you be glad to have Him stay forever
on and on?
Or would you sigh with great relief when
He at last was gone?
It might be interesting to know, the things
that you would do,
If Jesus came in person, to spend some time
with you.

Use the poem above to help the children imagine
what they would do if Jesus did come to visit them. (This would be fun
for Nursery-aged kids!)
Sr. Primary Matching Game
Go to Art from the Life of Christ and choose scenes that exemplify different qualities of the Savior. For example, a picture of Christ healing the lepers could show compassion, and Christ on the cross could show forgiveness ("Forgive them Father, for they know not what they do..."). Print out about 6 - 9 scenes on separate pieces of paper, or double them up on one piece. Then, print out the characteristics in different fonts on the same-sized paper. Number the back of each piece in a random order.
To play, the children choose two cards, and
try to match up the scene with the quality. As each different scene
comes up, explain to the children what is happening in the picture and
what quality is being shown. As they go through the puzzle, they
will have a better recollection of the events in Christ's life.
Using the poem above, draw a room on a piece
of posterboard. Cut out different things to put in the room:
You can take idea #3 at a different angle
by drawing a kid's body with an empty place in the head, heart, stomach
and mouth areas.
