Embossing Candles

You need:
1) Rubber stamps in the design you want on your candle.
2) White tissue paper (not wrinkled)
3) Embossing ink (some regular inks will work, embossing ink just stays wet longer)
4) Embossing powder (In the color you want)
5) Embossing gun or heat source (you can use your stove)
6) Candles (of course)

You do:
1) Stamp the designs onto the tissue paper
2) Sprinkle embossing powder over design, if you use the embossing ink you can do several designs at a time.  Dump extra powder back into container.  (Just like doing glitter)
3) Heat with embossing gun until shiny.  (This part is more obvious than you think it will be)
4) Once you get all the designs embossed for your candle(s) cut your designs out.  You can leave an edge you just sort of chop them out.
5) Place them where you want them on your candle and heat with embossing gun. The wax will melt and you won't be able to see the tissue paper anymore, leaving the embossed design showing.

Tips:
1) Don't heat the candle too long, it will melt.
2) We had better luck with the white canldes than any other colors.  Don't know if they take longer to melt or they just don't show the runs, this is just our experience.  If you are very careful the Navy w/silver is beautiful.

Another Tip from Heather Linares, Tamarac, FL

After you cut out the stamped image on the tissue paper and put it where you want it to be, cover the image with waxed paper so it will melt more evenly onto the candle. If you use a long enough piece of waxed paper to wrap around the entire candle, and then have some left over it is easier to hold. Then stop every few seconds to roll the image on a hard surface to help the wax to melt evenly. This really helps to make the images "melt" into the candle. It looks softer and more professional.
