"Let
your good works shine" Mosaic candle holder
A Personal Progress Incentive
Program
Materials:
-
Glass bowl for each girl
(I picked up "Ivy Bowls" at the craft store for 89 cents)
-
Glass floral marbles in the
value colors (get the oval ones with a flat bottom - easier to glue)
-
Super Glue (get the thick
kind)
-
Grout (Find someone that
is remodeling, and see if they will donate it)
-
Water
-
Rags
Each girl can earn a
marble in the following ways:
-
Bring your Personal Progress
Book on PP activity night - 1 marble in that month's value color
-
Bring your Personal Progress
Book on PIE activity night - 1 marble in that month's value color
-
Each goal passed off and
signed - 1 marble per goal in the color of the goal's value
-
Volunteer for the prayer
in YW each Sunday for 1 month - 1 marble in that month's value color
-
Laurel Project beginning
- 2 marbles in the value color that the project is listed under
-
Laurel Project End - 3 marbles
in the value color that the project is listed under
-
Extra goals - 1 marble per
goal in the color of the goal's value
At the end of the year,
have an activity to assemble the bowls...
Give each girl their bowl
and the marbles they have earned. (For my girls, I have given them
the marbles for goals already signed.)
Mix grout until it is the
consistency of toothpaste.
Glue the marbles to the glass
bowls in any pattern or design
Using plastic spoons, apply
the grout to the outside of the bowl, filling in all of the spaces between
the marbles. Wipe off the excess from the glass marble tops so they show.
Allow to dry 24 hours.
Place votive cup inside the
bowl and light a candle! The girls will see their good works shine!
A great project to show at Evening in Excellence... Instead of candles,
place small flashlights inside the bowls.
