To Think About Jesus (ASL)

I just found the sketches I used a couple of years ago to help the teachers teach their classes the sign language for this song.  I made copies for each class, and the teachers would help tremendously by actually knowing the hand gestures!  Sorry some of the sketches are so grainy.  I used the Church ASL video for the 1997 Primary Program Songs to put these sketches together. -Christy

It shouldn't be hard to sit very still

Pull hand away from forhead, creating a 'Y' with hand.

Pull thumb down and away from chin.

Brush the back of your left hand with the right.

Both hands form a 'Y' and are pressed down, away from body.

Cover outstretched fingers of right hand with curved fingers of left hand.  Like placing legs over the seat of a chair.
And think about Jesus, His cross on the hill
Circle fingers around head, alternating motion.
Middle finger to opposite palm, reverse.  This is the sign for 'Jesus', just like "As I Have Loved You".
Hand is raised in a slight curve, like tracing the contour of a hill.

Right hand forms a 'C', and left hand is held up, palm to floor.  Make a cross in the air with right hand, and rest on top of left hand.

And all that he suffered and did for me

Upturned palm is swung to one side, where it forms a fist.  Fist is released back to upturned palm as the hand swings back to starting position.
It shouldn't be hard to sit quietly
It shouldn't be hard, even though I am small...
To think about Jesus, not hard at all.
Middle finger to opposite palm, reverse.  This is the sign for 'Jesus', just like "As I Have Loved You".
