Materials:
  • 4 pieces of posterboard or cardboard
  • elastic
  • tin foil (optional)
  • scissors or box cutters
  • construction paper or fabric strips (for headbands)
Cut out four shields in the same shape as the CTR rings.
One shield will be for the chorus and the others for the three verses.

In each shield, cut 4 horizontal slits to string the elastic through.  The elastic should be long enough to fit comfortably around a child's forearm.

String the elastic through so it ties in the back, making two vertical loops for the child's arm to fit through.

Cover the front of the shields with tin foil, or with metallic or spraypainted posterboard. This covers up the elastic.  If you don't mind the elastic on the front of the shield, skip this step.

Put the illustrations for each verse on the front of the shields.

4 children can hold the shields in the front of the group.  Other children can wear the headbands you bring and stand for the chorus. You might try to explain to them how many 2000 is, and what a miracle it was that all of the Stripling Warriors survived their battles.

The chorus can become quite a powerful point in the program, and a great teaching tool!
